The Chilkat people are known for their robes, or blankets. The term “Chilkat weaving” applies to any garment woven by these peoples. Elaborate blankets for ceremonies were woven by hand and these intricately designed blankets would sometimes take years to craft. Born Leader depicts a repeating Chilkat design of a human in traditonal colours of blue, yellow and black.
