Brian Bob Coast Salish Artist

Brian’s mother Fran Touchie was Nuu-Chah-Nulth from Ucluelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island.  His father Wilson Bob was a hereditary chief from Snaw-naw-as a Coast Salish community on the east coast of the Island.  Brian’s Indian name is Qwuyutsapool which means ‘policer of wolves’.  He practices his culture and supports himself through his artwork.  Brian carves images of the animals that inhabit the land and sea of his territory, and he honours the spirit of those beings.  And he honours the rich cultures he belongs to.
