The wolf is a great hunter. He hunts in a family group and all members are taken care of. The wolf is a nice symbol of strong family dynamics.  
Wolves exist all over the world although humans are pushing them out of their habitats. Farmers don’t like them because they fear for their domestic animals so they have made up stories and fairy tales which depict wolves as a threat to humans which isn’t factual.  People have been trained to fear wolves.  In fact wolf attacks on humans are almost unheard of.  
Native people have respect for wolves and have lived in harmony with them since time immemorial.  The wolf is a primary clan crest on the northwest coast.
