Eugene Alfred was born in 1970 in the Yukon. He is Tlingit and Northern Tutchone from the Selkirk Band of Pelly Crossing. He is descended from an artist family. His grandmother was highly respected for her bead art. Eugene was influenced and trainied by his family. He also studied under a number or renowned artists including Dempsey Bob (Tlingit / Tahltan) and Ken Mowatt (Gitxsan). Eugene began drawing and carving when he was a child. He has developed into an internationally recognized master artist.
