Wilfred Sampson was born in Hazelton, BC in 1957 and is member of the Gitsxan Nation. He has been creating Northwest Coast Art since 1981. He attended Gitanmaax School of Northwest Coast Art and Design for advanced studies in carving in 1984.
Wilfred honed his skill at Gtanmaax by studying under master carvers: Chief Walter Harris, Earl Muldon, Ken Mowatt and Vern Stephens.
Sampson’s artwork reflects the pride he takes in his craft. He specializes in carved and painted masks, exquisitely carved boxes, totem poles, and other fine pieces.
