Traditional fishing techniques have always ensured the continuation of the resource. But non-Native commercial fishing has led to a decline in salmon populations. Today Coast Salish communities are working to revitalizes the traditional management that is so successful. The traditional relationship is based on respect, reciprocity, and the interconnectedness of all life.
