Haida art by Corey Bulpitt. The glass panel is 24" by 12". A wave design over an abstract orca creates a sense of motion. A blend of traditional formline design in a contemporary medium.
Haida art is renowned among Native American art styles. This panel is two sided and each side can be seen through from the other side. On one side is a wave pattern. The wave symbol appears in Indigenous art from all over the world. It is a fundamental human image similar to the triangular mountain symbol. On the other side is the head of a Killer Whale facing forward. The killer whale is an apex predator that travels the ocean unmolested. Killer whales are thought to be much like humans and are highly respected relatives in Haida culture.
Created by Corey Bulpitt a leading contemporary Haida artist and Chief who lives between Haida Gwaii and Vancouver and works all over the west coast.
