The bowl carved in the shape of a loon reflects a deep connection with nature.  It’s carved from red cedar, an integral material of Northwest Coast Native culture.  The bowl is a model of the large carved feast bowls used in Potlatch ceremonies.  The Potlatch is where names, responsibilities and property are passed on when someone dies.  Songs, dances, and masks and regalia are preserved there.  Traditionally it’s the centre of the economy.
