Native artist's bio available with purchase.
Here on the west coast Native designs are based on family and clan crests - mostly animals, birds, undersea creatures and supernatural beings although some plants are represented for example fireweed. In the woodlands, the Anishinabe people's floral beadwork inspires contemporary artists to create designs that originate in their forest home. Wildflowers are a central image that adorned regalia since earliest times. These patterns are not considered feminine or masculine and are commonly worn by both genders. The artist that created these earrings lives on the west coast and trained here but remains culturally connected to the woodlands she comes from.
