The Raven is the central figure in the creation stories of the Indigenous northwest coast. In the beginning the world was in darkness. There was a ball of light hidden away. Raven, through cleverness and trickery captured the light and carried it into the sky. The fiery light burned his beautiful snow white feathers and turned them black. Raven placed the sun in the sky, and the moon and stars in the night sky.
