
Brad Star is from the Fish clan of the Haisla nation. He was born in Kitimat village in 1952. He is dedicated to his culture which is evident in his carving. He creates wall panels and plaques, boxes and chests, paddles, and totem poles. His carvings depict the spiritual aspects of the animals that inhabit his territory, as well as traditional stories and oral history. He has been influenced by his uncle, master carver Sam Robinson, and his grandfather master canoe builder Soloman McKay. He began carving at the age of five.
