Native American art by Kwak'waka'wakw artist Jimmy Joseph. 19" high, hand carved red cedar rattle on a stand.
The Pugwis is an undersea spirit in human-like form with a fish like face and round eyes and two large beaver-like teeth. A salmon is on each side of his head, and a sea urchin sits on top. A human face is carved in relief on the back of his head. The handle is a miniature totem pole carved with a thunderbird and a raven.
