Silver studs. Repousse with sapphires. About 2 1/2" long. Hand made by Kwak'waka'wakw repousse artist Gus Cook.
Two piece earrings. Three dimensional hands created by repousse. Eyes within them with sapphires for pupils. Eagle feathers hanging below with two sapphires set in each of them. The eyes in the hands conveys the idea that the hands are guided by more than just the physical aspect. The feathers hanging below reinforce the idea that they are guided by vision, spirit and ancestral wisdom. The design may also represent generosity and the responsibility of a chief to provide for his people. Or it may represent the creativity of an artist. The colour of the blue sapphires may represent the sky, and suggest a soul that is awake and active.
