Mountain goats are hunted for their highly nutritious meat. Mountain goat hair is also prized for wool to make blankets. On the coastal mountains there are many goats. In the spring they shed their coats by rubbing against bushes. Traditionally Indigenous families would travel into the mountains and gather up the hair. Some people continue the practice and knit very high quality blankets that are used as regalia in ceremonies and gatherings.
