These moccasins are made by a Native company in Eastern Canada in a small shop on reserve from commercially tanned deer, moose, sheep, and cowhide. They make comfortable, long lasting slippers, as well as shoes with outdoor soles, and winter fashion boots.
The hides come from animals that are hunted or raised for food. The hides are repurposed to make footwear, a sustainable practice that eliminates unnecessary waste. The tannery uses water based and vegetable sourced tannins made from chestnut, mimosa and quebracho tree bark. All the wastewater produced is recycled.
Indigenous values of sustainability and respect for the environment are integrated into all levels of the production.
