Diamonds in the sun's eyes and in the moon's. Tiny diamonds in the sun's rays.
The Sun on one side and the Moon on the other represents the balancing of opposites - the daytime male energy and the nighttime female aspect. The sun provides bright light and the warmth needed to grow the berries, roots and medicines. Grandmother moon provides light at night and its ability to move the water makes her one of the most vital supernatural entities.
Repousse is a technique in which the surface of the metal is pushed up, raised from behind using a number of different punches and tools to create a three dimensional design. Chasing accomplishes the opposite effect, creates details by pushing the surface down. The two techniques work together to make a three dimensional piece of art.
