The Sisiutl is a giant two headed serpent. It is depicted with a horned serpents head at either end and a human like face in the centre. It is a powerful shape shifting spirit. It can transform into a self propelling copper canoe. Shamans and warriors both carried images of Sisiutl’s on their belts or headbands to increase their powers. Images of Sisiutl are carved and painted above doorways for protection and on the prows of canoes for speed and power.
