Like the drum, the Indigenous rattle is a powerful instrument used in ceremonies by Indian Doctors to call spirits and then employ the spiritual presence to help accomplish positive goals. They are also used to celebrate life in social gatherings and Powwows, where the lively sound of the rattle, the drum, and singing voices lead and animate the dancers. That babies so like to rattle indicates their spiritual aspect.
At Cheryl's Trading Post, our selection of authentic Indigenous rattles includes a variety of handcrafted rattles that are each unique in their design and in the spirit with which they were made. Our Northwest Coast Native red and yellow cedar rattles are hand-carved and painted with intricate designs of local animals and supernatural beings.
